This past Friday, April 2nd, my upcoming book, Of Thrones and Thieves, officially launched on IndieGoGo for pre-orders! In honor of such a special occasion and in order to get you acquainted with the characters you’ll meet in only a few short months, there’s somebody that I’d like you to meet:

You’ll be seeing the story through the eyes of Princess Elara Charmont of Metanoia, the headstrong yet anxious soon-to-be queen of her seaside nation. Our story begins as she is kidnapped on the day of her coronation — but before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s start at the very beginning, shall we?

Full Name: Elara Amelia Delarose Charmont

Meaning: “Elara” — moon of Jupiter

Nicknames: Ellie, Red, Little Red, Princess

Age: Twenty-one

Birthday: February 3rd

Zodiac Sign: Aquarius

Height: 5’3 (160 cm)

Appearance: Elara is short and mid-sized, with round features — round cheeks, large, round eyes, a round button nose. She has long, curly red hair, large green eyes, and pale skin.

Character: Elara is headstrong and motivated, and is a natural-born leader. She states early in the novel, “She could recite war strategies by the time she was twelve. She could name every one of their allies’ rulers and their right-hand men better than she could remember the names of her own relatives. She could handle a sword before she could handle a spoon.” She is born to be a queen. However, she’s also overcome by anxiety. Her biggest flaw is that she’s unsure of herself and what she’s supposed to be doing in the world, leaving her unable to defend herself and unable to find her voice. She’s an incredibly charismatic person who cares deeply for her subjects and her servants, so much that she takes the time out to learn the names of her staff. However, her charisma often gets the best of her and leaves her caring more for other people than she does for herself.

Hobbies: She spends most of her time studying. However, when she does get free time, she enjoys painting, horseback riding, and spending time with her younger sister, Lilliana.

Quirks and Habits: When she’s nervous, she can’t look anyone in the eyes and she picks at her skirts and shirts. When she’s happy, she clasps her hands together. She had a habit of pursing her lips together when she’s listening to someone talk.

Character Flaw: A lot of her trauma comes from her father dying when she was a young child. She has also had the pressure of becoming queen someday put on her shoulders since she was a child. These situations combined have caused her to take on a lot of responsibility at a young age to help out her mom and to prepare to be queen, and she feels that accepting any kind of help makes her weak.

Elara can’t wait to meet you this upcoming August! Your support is what will make this book become a reality — by supporting my book through preorders or through donations to my IndieGoGo page, every little bit helps me get one step closer to my dream and one step closer to bring Elara to life.
